Summary:

In recent years, structural analysis using 3D ED / MicroED with electron beams has attracted worldwide attention. 3D ED / MicroED allows visual identification of the position of hydrogen atoms, which is relatively difficult to identify using single crystal X-ray structure analysis. Identifying the positions of hydrogen atoms leads to interesting structure determination, which is beneficial for drug discovery research, such as determining whether the drug is a salt or co-crystal. In this study, the authors have achieved “direct” salt/cocrystal determinations for three well-known APIs using 3D ED / MicroED technology. These APIs were previously determined by “indirect” methods about salts or co-crystals. SPERA PHARMA is currently receiving numerous requests for 3D ED / MicroED measurements and continues to provide solutions to these challenges.
