Summary: A paper was published on the asymmetric hydrogenation of tetra-substituted enamines, which was developed as a new synthetic method for developmental compounds during the Takeda era. Hydrogenation of tetra-substituted enamines, which generally undergo stereoselective reactions with difficulty, was successfully achieved with high enantioselectivity and high conversion rate.
A highly efficient catalytic reaction was achieved with a catalytically active species that was presumed to be produced by a combination of an original ruthenium metal catalyst and a weak base, such as potassium carbonate.
